Oscar Murillo: Espíritus en el pantano

Museo Tamayo, Mexico City, Mexico

August 23, 2025–November 23, 2025

Oscar Murillo's work explores ideas of collectivity and shared culture, transcending the conventional confines of the pictorial act by inserting itself into the dynamics of group interaction. His practice responds to a genealogy of artists who destabilize traditional hierarchies in art, transforming the canvas, gesture, and installation into surfaces for social inscription.

Following his solo exhibition at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey, Murillo continues his understanding of exhibition space as an incubator for materiality and the production of traces. Canvases filled with messages, marks, and drawings made by visitors occupy the space of the museum's central courtyard. The building itself becomes not only a neutral container, but a stage for performance: a multi-layered swamp.
