The present etching takes inspiration from a work by French symbolist artist Gustave Moreau (1826-1898).
A prolific printmaker, Peyton has worked in a range of techniques, including monotype, etching, intaglio, and woodcut, among others. Speaking on the importance of prints in her practice, the artist has remarked: “I would say that, historically, prints have typically been the afterword to a work. But for me it’s a foreword. Often I’ll make a work after something I make in the print studio.”
