A work on paper by Marina Adams, titled 16x12_171, dated 2023.

Marina Adams (b. 1960) explores color, form, and movement in her practice, which encompasses painting, drawing, and printmaking. Taking inspiration from various forms of patterning, such as those found in Uzbek textiles, Moorish mosaics, Native American art, and Moroccan rugs, as well as in poetry, architecture, nature, music, and her ongoing dialogue with painting, Adams creates playfully balanced geometric compositions. Often dividing the space in broad horizontal or vertical sections, the intensely saturated colors of the artist’s forms seem to pulsate with an interior rhythm as they push against, and fold into, the space surrounding them.
