Vividly illustrated documentation of the artist’s participatory dining installation at Glenstone

For more than 30 years, community has been central to the work of artist Rirkrit Tiravanija (born 1961). With a keen focus on collective activities and rituals, Tiravanija frequently incorporates elements such as cooking, conversation and art-making into the experiences offered by his practice. This book commemorates Tiravanija’s 2019–20 titular installation at Glenstone Museum. The participatory exhibition featured the serving of fresh soup, an active T-shirt printing factory and an evolving presentation of graffiti that unfolded across the reconfigured architecture of the museum’s Charles Gwathmey–designed building.

Anchoring this volume are texts from Molly Nesbit, Okwui Enwezor and Gavin Brown, offering perspectives that illuminate the artist’s conceptual grounding. The fully illustrated publication also features reflections from staff involved in the exhibition’s presentation, recipes of the soups served and extensive photography of the graffiti rendered throughout the run of the show.

Wolfgang Tillmans: Build From Here EP

In celebration of one of Kusama’s most iconic infinity rooms

Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama is known worldwide for her polka dots and colorful, immersive light installations featuring unusual and organic forms, such as pumpkins. 

 is a tribute to her beloved and singular practice, with a particular focus on 

 from the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. 

 is a room-sized installation where, as the title suggests, the lights seem almost natural, like fireflies on a quiet summer’s night. An extensive look at Robert Ryman’s formative work from the early 1960s, as well as his last series of paintings

In the 1960s, Robert Ryman began to firmly establish the broad parameters of his radical and inventive practice. While he initially gained recognition for work he made in the late 1960s and early 1970s, his earlier paintings have remained less widely seen.

This publication includes representative works of all facets of Ryman’s painterly practice during this time—influenced by his career as a jazz musician—including his use of thick impasto brushstrokes on both stretched and unstretched canvas; heavily or sparsely worked paintings in both small and large formats; and a group of rarely seen works on raw linen, each featuring one or several seemingly complete, independent compositions. Many of these works feature subtle suggestions of colorful underpainting that leave an outsized effect on the viewing experience, while in other works Ryman’s assertive use of green, red, and blue intensifies the visual presence of the various white tones.

Revealing the breadth of Ryman’s work, this catalogue also includes a selection of drawings, many of which were made concurrently with the early works, as well as his last paintings. The final canvases demonstrate the inexhaustible and probing nature of Ryman’s singular approach to painting over his five-decade career. The details reveal the visual presence of various white tones, creating an interplay between color and absence and dimensionality that characterizes much of Ryman’s oeuvre.

Brave, unconventional, and determined, Ruth Asawa let nothing stop her from living a life intertwined with art.



Renowned for her innovative wire sculptures, Japanese American artist Ruth Asawa (1926–2013) was a teenager in Southern California when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and the United States entered World War II. Japanese Americans on the West Coast were forced into camps. Asawa’s family had to abandon their farm, her father was incarcerated, and she and the rest of her family were sent to a detention center, and later to a concentration camp in Arkansas. Asawa nurtured her dreams of becoming an artist while imprisoned and eventually made her way to the experimental Black Mountain College in North Carolina.

This graphic biography by Sam Nakahira, developed in consultation with Ruth Asawa’s youngest daughter, Addie Lanier, chronicles the genesis of Asawa as an artist—from the horror of Pearl Harbor to her transformative education at Black Mountain College to building her life in San Francisco, where she would further develop and refine her groundbreaking wire sculptures.

Asawa never sought fame, preferring to work on her own terms: for her, art and life were one. Featuring lively illustrations and a dozen photographs of Asawa’s artwork, this graphic retelling of her young adult years demonstrates the transformative power of making art.

Ruth Asawa: An Artist Takes Shape

This latest book on the work of Los Angeles-born, Cologne-based photographer Christopher Williams (born 1956) explores the transparent theatricality of the modern art fair, inspired by Art Cologne 1967. Williams’ black-and-white photographs lead the viewer through clinical product shots from his 

 series paired with images of past art fairs, including the photographer’s own participation in a booth hosted by David Zwirner Gallery. A contemplative exploration of the work of Yun Hyong-keun, a renowned Korean abstract painter, during a transformative period in Paris in the early 1980s

From 1980 to 1982, Yun Hyong-keun resided in Paris, seeking both peace from the violent political turmoil that exploded in South Korea in 1980 and a new, artistic center in which to create work. His brief but illuminating stay in the city became the locus of his freedom of expression.

Yun’s signature abstract compositions engage and transcend Eastern and Western art movements and visual traditions, establishing him as one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century. He is the most prominent figure associated with the Dansaekhwa (monochrome painting) movement, the name given to a group of influential Korean artists from the 1960s and 1970s. Using a restricted palette of ultramarine and umber, Yun created his compositions of monolithic swathes by adding layer upon layer of paint to raw canvas or linen and to hanji (Korean mulberry paper), often applying the next coat before the one below had dried.

Published on the occasion of the artist’s exhibition at David Zwirner, Paris, in 2023, this limited-run cloth-bound catalogue focuses on his paintings and works on 

 made in Paris. In an accompanying text, the art historian Oh Gwangsu considers Yun’s work prior to his move to Paris, particularly the artist’s shift toward his signature works in the 1970s. The writer Mara Hoberman reflects on Yun’s practice and influences upon his arrival in the European capital, including an examination of his more nuanced understanding of the color black, which takes on different meanings in France and Korea.

The painter and poet Émile Bernard’s firsthand account of the beloved painter Vincent van Gogh’s life offers deep perspective into the Dutch artist’s process, artistic preoccupations, and difficulties. In the 1890s, Bernard penned prefaces for collections of letters from Van Gogh, some of which were published while others were not. In 1911, Bernard gathered together these prefaces for a new publication, to which he also contributed a new introductory text, of the artist’s letters and sketches which he enclosed in his correspondence. This volume comprises these prefaces, published in English for the first time, as well as a selection of letters from Van Gogh to Bernard. In addition to including biographical details and reflections on art and friendship, Bernard chronicles his attempts to have Van Gogh’s work recognized after his death. One of the most important painters working today, Luc Tuymans pioneered a distinctive figurative style beginning in the 1980s that has proven singularly influential among his peers as well as subsequent generations of artists. Tuymans’s deeply resonant compositions insist on the power of images to simultaneously convey and conceal meaning. Rendered in a restrained and muted palette, the artist’s canvases are based on preexisting imagery from a range of historical, cultural, and popular media sources.
