Installation view of Elizabeth Peyton: La pesanteur et la grâce, an exhibition of new works on paper on view at David Zwirner, Paris, 2025.

Peyton’s prints are not conceived as an afterthought to her practice, nor are they reproductions of existing works. Rather, they form an integral part of her artistic process—the act of creating prints often serves as a vital step in informing and developing new bodies of work.

This selection underscores Peyton’s longstanding engagement with printmaking. Collaborating closely with print workshops and publishers such as Two Palms in New York (since 2002) and Edition Copenhagen in Denmark (since 2013), the artist has explored a wide range of processes—including various etching techniques, lithography, and linocut, among others—to create nuanced portrayals of her subjects. Peyton’s prints, distinguished by their delicacy and immediacy, exemplify her profound interest in conveying gesture and emotional depth in her work.
